Purification Process

The purity and taste of Cristalia Premium Water is the result of the dedicated efforts of a highly trained teem of water manufacturing technicians that insure constant vigilance in treating and testing our product’s source and quality.

The Cristalia process starts at the source – a protected area of about forty cuerda’s of land located in Barrio Cotto Laurel, Puerto Rico – where the recharge zone is for the Company’s deep water wells. By insuring that the recharge area is keep free of agricultural contamination and man made pollutants, Cristalia is assured that our water’s source stays free of contaminates. The water is chlorinated at the well source and pumped to the manufacturing plant through our own special single use, pipelines. At the plant we de-chlorinate the water by passing it through a multi media filter system to our raw water holding tanks.

Once the water leaves the raw water holding tanks it passes through a coconut, carbon filtering system and a special system of five and ten micron filters. The purpose of these systems is to remove any odors or bad tastes from the water and eliminate any Cryptosporidium spores (which are typically greater than twelve microns) and large particles that could possibly enter or be dissolved in our raw water sources.

After the water passes from the five and ten micron filters, it passes into a commercial grade water softener system. The purpose of the water softeners is to eliminate any calcium or magnesium that may be present in the processed water and to give the water a “soft” taste. After the water passes through the water softeners, it passes through an Ultra Violet Light (UV) system to kill any bacteria that may be suspended in the water. Following the above steps, the water passes through another ten micron filter and then passes into a high capacity (120 gallon per minute) Reverse Osmosis System (RO system) to filter the water down to the molecular level. The purpose of the RO system is to nano-filter the water to a point where we end up with product water in the 7 to 10 TDS (total dissolved solids or parts per million) level.

Finally, just prior to filling our bottles with fresh clean Cristalia Premium Water, we inject ozone into the water as a final barrier, to kill any possible bacteria that may be in the processed water. This ozone also breaks down into pure oxygen to super oxygenate the water giving the water an even cleaner, crisp taste.

No process would be complete without testing and this is where we believe we excel at Cristalia. Our in house quality control technicians test our water at 20 points for micro analysis on a daily basis. The process consists of growing micro cultures and checking the plates for bacteria counts. In addition to the micro analysis, we check our source water and product hourly for PH levels, conductivity, chlorine levels, turbidity, ozone, and TDS. Every week we arrange to have product samples tested by an outside testing laboratory to insure compliance with our target micro and chemical levels to further insure our product quality meets the highest standards in the industry. Every year the source water also undergoes a full chemical, micro biological, and radiological test, by a US based testing laboratory.

If this process and testing regime sounds like overkill to you, it probably is, but our commitment to the highest standards of product quality demands this level of effort. We think the results speak for themselves. You our clients vote your support every day in the market and we do our part to insure that we never lose that trust in our great brand!
